Heads up, Hamilton homeowners!
The City of Hamilton has implemented a Vacant Unit Tax (VUT). This means you need to declare your property's occupancy by April 30, 2025.
This is a new requirement, and we know it can be confusing. Essentially, if you don't declare, your property could be considered vacant and you'll face a 1% tax on its assessed value.
The City hopes this will help increase housing supply, similar to other cities.
Please visit hamilton.ca/VacantUnitTax or call 905-546-2573 for all the details and to submit your declaration.
Don't let this slip your mind!
