When I bought my first house, it was an absolute disaster. I had to completely gut the house and rebuild it from the inside out. I’m by no means a professional contractor, but can be quite handy at getting the job done. The side door to my house was letting in quite the draft, and though it did its job for the past 60 years, it was time to let it retire and put in a new steel door to increase R value (save on the energy bill). I thought it would be better to just do it myself and avoid using a professional. But let’s just say the door is there and the draft never left.
Sure, there are people who buy homes without an agent, but just like I would never install a door again myself, I’m sure the headache DIY buyers endured wouldn’t be repeated, ESPECIALLY since working with a realtor is FREE. When it comes to buying your first home, the process can be overwhelming. Having a great agent that has done this many times before makes the process less stressful and often, a lot more enjoyable.
