The Bank of Canada held interest rates at 2.75% for the second consecutive meeting, matching market expectations. Policymakers said the decision came as the central bank gains more information about the impact of Donald Trump’s trade war. Officials also said the economy has “held up stronger” than expected in the first quarter and that there might be a need for a rate cut if the economy weakens as the tariffs take an impact.
